Year 4 History
The stories of the first fleets
Example 1
Introduction: I'm Warragul, from the Gadigal people. Today, big ships came to our land for the first time ever. It's exciting and scary at the same time.
Feelings: Seeing the ships made me curious but also nervous. I wonder what these strangers want and if they'll be kind to us.
Treatment: Some of the strangers seem nice, but others are not so friendly. It's hard to know who we can trust.
Daily Life: Even with the strangers around, we still do our usual things like gathering food and spending time with family.
Challenges: It's tough sharing our land with the strangers. We have to figure out how to get along and keep our traditions alive.
Conclusion: Today is a big day for us. I hope we can make friends with the strangers and live together peacefully.
Example 2
Introduction: I am William, a settler aboard one of the ships in the First Fleet. Today marks the start of a new chapter in my life as we arrive at this unfamiliar land called Botany Bay.
Feelings: As I step off the ship and onto the shore, I feel a mix of excitement and uncertainty. This land is so different from what I'm used to back home in England.
Treatment: The Aboriginal people we encounter are curious about us, but some seem wary. We must approach them with respect and caution as we establish our presence here.
Challenges: There are many challenges ahead as we establish our colony in this unfamiliar territory. We must contend with harsh weather, unfamiliar landscapes, and the need to build relationships with the Indigenous inhabitants.
Conclusion: Despite the challenges, I am filled with hope for the future. We have the opportunity to build a new society here, one that respects the land and its people. I look forward to the adventures and discoveries that lie ahead.
Example 3
Introduction: Greetings, dear journal! Today marks my first full day in this strange, new land. I cannot help but marvel at the vastness of the forests and the endless expanse of the sea.
Feelings: I must admit, I am feeling a mix of excitement and trepidation. The journey here was long and arduous, but now that we've arrived, I am filled with a sense of wonder at the possibilities that lie ahead.
Treatment: Our interactions with the native inhabitants have been cordial thus far. They seem curious about us, and we are eager to learn from them and establish friendly relations.
Challenges: Of course, there are challenges aplenty in this new world. The unfamiliar terrain, the harsh climate, and the constant threat of illness loom large in our minds. But we are determined to persevere, come what may.
Conclusion: As I sit here beneath the starry sky, I cannot help but feel a sense of optimism for the future. Yes, the road ahead will be difficult, but I am confident that with hard work and perseverance, we will thrive in this new world.
